Professional Gold Trades During the New York Session
This is not a channel built around dozens of random signals or tiny 20–30 pip targets.
Gold can move 20 pips in the time it takes you to light a cigarette. In today’s market conditions, targeting such small movements makes little sense to me.
My trades generally target:
- 200–250 pips profit
- Approximately 100 pips Stop Loss
- A minimum Risk-to-Reward Ratio of 1:2
When Do We Trade?
I begin looking for opportunities after 8:00 AM New York time, trading during the most active part of the US session.
If important economic news is scheduled for 8:30 AM, I wait for the release and allow the initial volatility to settle. Usually, I begin looking for opportunities approximately one hour later, when the market starts showing its real direction.
Maximum Two Trades per Day
The channel takes a maximum of two trades per day—and sometimes no trade at all if there is no valid opportunity.
If the first trade loses 100 pips, a second successful trade targeting 200 pips can recover the loss and still finish the day positive.
If both trades lose, trading stops for the day. Two consecutive losses usually mean that the market is behaving in a way I do not fully understand—and that is the moment to stop, not to trade more.
The same applies to profitable days. After two successful trades, I stop. If we make 400+ pips in a few hours, there is no reason to keep pushing our luck.
One Daily Bias. One Direction.
Every day, I establish a directional bias and trade only in that direction.
If the bias is bullish, I look for buys.
If the bias is bearish, I look for sells.
This keeps the approach focused and prevents random trades, emotional direction changes and overtrading.
How Are the Trades Identified?
The analysis is performed primarily on the one-minute XAUUSD chart, using technical analysis and the experience I have accumulated from trading Gold for more than 20 years.
I also use professional order-flow analysis through ATAS, including:
- Volume Profile
- Delta
- Order-flow imbalances
- Iceberg orders
- Buying and selling pressure
The trade setup comes from price action, market structure and important technical levels. ATAS provides an additional layer of confirmation by showing what is happening inside the market.
Technical analysis identifies the trade. Order flow confirms it.
